Worthing Together brings together organisations and individuals from across Worthing in a unique partnership to tackle the issues that matter most to local people.

As a framework for making improvements, in 2004, Worthing Together produced a community strategy called The Town We Want.

By 2008 a lot had happened, and a new community strategy was needed, taking into account changing local needs, and embedding national priorities such as sustainable communities, and climate change. A new plan needed to integrate policies and infrastructure plans for the development of Worthing for the next two decades.

As a bridging measure, Worthing’s Interim Sustainable Community Strategy of 2008 was produced. Then Worthing Together agreed to work together with neighbouring Local Strategic Partnership, Adur in Partnership,  towards a joint Sustainable Community Strategy, to supersede all the earlier strategies of both areas.  The name chosen for this new plan was waves ahead

  • what the statistics told us
  • the  specialised understanding of the town and its needs that Worthing Together partners contributed
  • what local people told us they wanted to see
