Worthing Together brings together organisations and individuals from across Worthing in a unique partnership to tackle the issues that matter most to local people.
As a framework for making improvements, in 2004, Worthing Together produced a community strategy called The Town We Want, based on three crucial areas of knowledge:
- what local people told us they wanted to see
- what the statistics told us
- Worthing Together's own specialised understanding of the town and its needs
A lot has happened in Worthing since 2004. A new community strategy is needed, embedding national priorities such as sustainable communities, and climate change, and integrating policies and plans for the development of Worthing for the next two decades, based on local needs.
Work is underway to update our knowledge base about local needs, that will underpin the new Sustainable Community Strategy, to be prepared jointly with neighbouring Local Strategic Partnership, Adur in Partnership.
In the meantime, Worthing Together has produced an interim Sustainable Community Strategy, which draws on previous knowledge, but also sets out many useful initiatives that will prepare the ground for the final joint Sustainable Community Strategy in due course.
