Worthing Together was set up in January 2002.  The first meeting was attended by nearly 100 representatives of different groups from across the Borough who were asked to consider and discuss the main issues surrounding life in Worthing and nominate key people to a Steering Group.

Since then, the Steering Group has met approximately six times a year to drive forward and oversee the development of Worthing’s Community Strategy.  For minutes of the Steering Group meetings, click on Minutes of WT Steering Group

No single organisation can succeed in making our town, for example, safer or more prosperous.  It must be a planned, concerted and collaborative effort by a wide range of organisations and individuals, each bringing their own knowledge, skill and energy to making things happen.

Worthing Together works on a co-operative basis.  It has no resources other than a small dedicated staff provided by Worthing Borough Council and West Sussex County Council, and a modest budget for administration.  It has no authority over its partner organisations, all of which have their own systems of governance.
