Local Neighbourhood Improvement Area Funding

Worthing Together Local Strategic Partnership has received £100,000 from West Sussex County Council to fund work that will help reduce deprivation in six wards identified as the most disadvantaged in Worthing: Heene, Central, Durrington, Selden, Northbrook and Broadwater.

Funding is available to help local organisations to develop projects in these targeted areas for the following priorities:

Parenting – a) improving parenting skills, and/or b) increasing participation in family learning. Funding up to a maximum of £20,000 available.

Financial inclusion – improving access to debt advice and money management skills. Funding up to a maximum of £30,000 available.

Anti-social behaviour – increasing diversionary activities for young people. Funding up to a maximum of £9,000 available.

Community cohesion – improving community development. Funding up to a maximum of £40,000 available.

Who can apply?

Groups and organisations working with local people in Worthing. The scheme is not open to applications from individuals.

Groups and organisations can be statutory, social enterprises or not-for-profit organizations

Projects proposed must address one of the priorities mentioned above in at least one of the LNIAs.

The grant may be spent on capital or revenue costs.

The grant must be spent before March 31st 2011.

Timeframe

Joint working on Sustainable Community Strategy

for Worthing Together and Adur in Partnership

 Following on from study into the feasibility of merger between Worthing Together and
Adur in Partnership Local Strategic Partnerships, the two LSPs have agreed to work together towards a joint Sustainable Community Strategy, which will supersede Worthing’s Interim Sustainable Community Strategy of 2008  and Adur’s Community Strategy of 2004. A consultant led joint workshop was held on 15 April 2009 to look into setting up a joint working group to lead on this.  Please click on the links at the foot of this page for a pre-circulated discussion paper, a workshop presentation, a post presentation report and a document on conclusions and next steps.
