Projects in priority areas
Worthing Together LSP, committed to the fight against inequalities, has focussed attention on Worthing's Local Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (LNIAs). These are Broadwater, Central, Durrington, Heene, Northbrook and Selden wards.
Local Neighbourhood Improvement Area Funding 2010-11
Worthing Together received £100,000 from West Sussex County Council to fund work that would help reduce deprivation. Local organisations were invited to apply for grants to help them develop projects in these targeted areas for the following priorities:
Parenting – a) improving parenting skills, and/or b) increasing participation in family learning. Funding up to a maximum of £20,000.
Financial inclusion – improving access to debt advice and money management skills. Funding up to a maximum of £30,000.
Anti-social behaviour – increasing diversionary activities for young people. Funding up to a maximum of £9,000.
Community cohesion – improving community development. Funding up to a maximum of £40,000.
Applications and awards
Groups and organisations working with local people in Worthing were eligible, not individuals. Groups and organisations could be statutory, social enterprises or not-for-profit organizations.
Projects had to address one of the priorities mentioned above in at least one of the LNIAs.
